Linear Thinking

In my last post, I suggested that I was on the verge of discharge and going home.  Shame on me.  That notion was based on the thought that recovery was a linear process.  However (as I should have known from having major abdominal surgery a little over a year ago) the fact is that recovery is often an up-and-down experience.  That said, I am still in San Diego, in the hospital.  My setback, while frustrating, is not exceptional.  The doctors remind me to be patient.  I am taking things day-to-day, and an very hopeful that tomorrow I can be discharged.  We shall see.
